Psalm 23:4-6 - "His rod and staff they comfort us" : rod = to beat the wolves ; staff = to guide the sheep

A rod is a staffed elongation without an end point of crook or anything else, almost similar to and basicly a walking stick, until otherwise used e.g. to beat attacking wolves from the shepheard's protected and guided sheep.

A staff is an elongated staff-age and accustomed to the circular crook at it's tip/end to guide the sheep gently with it's safety-curv-age for the sheep's neck sake, and to note finding the sheep's perfection of Liberty in the shepherd's guidance and protection of both staff and rod.
